Individual Assignment-Review of Journal Articles: Identify a topic or issue in human development that is relevant from adolescence throughout adulthood that you are interested in understanding with greater depth
Individual Assignment-Review of Journal Articles (30%)
Identify a topic or issue in human development that is relevant from adolescence
throughout adulthood that you are interested in understanding with greater depth. It
include death and dying as well. Examples of topics may include bullying in
adolescence, the impact of divorce on future dating, and the impact of body image on
the development of Eating Disorders. Review 3 studies written in journal articles
that specifically investigate the topic chosen by the student (that includes some
data collected). Thus, no review articles should be used for this section of the
paper. Explain the purpose of the study, the method used, the findings from the
study, and conclusions drawn. Also include areas for future study that the
authors address in the journal article. Relate the topic to three theories either
discussed in class or in the articles themselves and explain how each theory would
explain or be related to your topic. This is your application of theory to your topic and
not necessarily one that comes from the authors of the journal articles reviewed. For
example, how does attachment theory explain the impact that divorce has on a child’s
adjustment living in two homes? Hand in the link of the 3 journal articles with your
paper. The write-up is up to the student but may look like the following:
1. A) Introduction (.5-1 page)
2. B) Review of Journal Articles (3 pages)
3. C) Explanation of the issue in relation to 3 theories–(3 pages)
4. D) Directions for Future Research (1 page)
5. E) Conclusions (1-2 pages)
6. F) References (not included in the page count)
A minimum of three journal articles must be used to write this paper.
Additional academic papers may be used to deepen your understanding of the topic
selected. Your paper should be written in APA format and should be between 8-10
pages double-spaced in length (excluding the title and reference page) 12 font.
Academic papers means peer reviewed journal articles not textbooks or websites.
Please note: a grading rubric will be posted on Blackboard well before the due
date.
